Job Description

Position: High School Head Band Director Head 2024 - 2025 Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy and the Vice President & Chief Pharmacy Officer, the Oncology and Specialty Infusions Manager at Children's National Hospital is responsible for leading the team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and supervisors that work in the Oncology and Specialty Infusions Pharmacy area. This individual assumes primary responsibility and accountability for providing safe, effective, and timely medication verification, preparation, and delivery in a consistent and reliable manner. This manager is responsible for operational implementation, personnel management, and quality oversight of the chemotherapy and specialty infusion dispensing activities. The Oncology and Specialty Infusions Manager is also accountable for appropriately utilizing financial and human resources. The Oncology and Specialty Infusions Manager will actively monitor and, when appropriate, implement improvements in operational efficiency, quality control, and financial performance. In short, this manager sets the standard of excellence for oncology and infusion pharmacy services and designs pharmacy operations to collaboratively, safely, and effectively support patient-centered care and clinical pharmacy programs at Children's National Hospital and within the Center for Cancers and Blood Disorders. The Oncology and Specialty Infusions Manager at Children's National Hospital reports to the Director of Pharmacy Operations and Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer. The Oncology and Specialty Infusions Manager works closely with various Pharmacy Operations Supervisors and the Managers of Informatics, Clinical, and Compliance Pharmacy Services to advance pharmacy practice and patient care services throughout the institution. This manager will directly oversee the Oncology Pharmacy Operations Supervisor and work with other Division of Pharmacy Services Leadership to develop goals for the department and facilitate accomplishing these goals. The position provides oversite to Oncology and Specialty Infusions personnel as governed separately in Maryland, D.C., and Virginia. Ensures compliance with the rules of Joint Commission, Department of Health, CMS, and FDA across the Maryland, D.C., and Virginia jurisdictions. Qualifications: Minimum Education B.S. • Higher education degree(s) establishing a strong foundation in immunology, basic sciences, and/or Oncology Pharmacy Practice required within 1 year of position start. (Required) M.S. (Preferred) Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) RPh also considered (Preferred) Minimum Work Experience 3 years • Prior outpatient and/or ambulatory care Pharmacy experience is preferred. • Pediatric experience highly preferred • Knowledge of 340B program (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge Expertise in professional pharmacy practice Experience in oversight of Infusion Services both impatient and outpatient Strong knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory agency requirements Demonstrated leadership and management skills Project Management experience Interdepartmental, interdisciplinary, and interpersonal communication skills Experience with production and delivery of Pharmacy Education in various scales and settings Required Licenses and Certifications Pharmacist Licensure in the District of Columbia required. MD and VA licenses must be obtained within 6 months of position start and maintained throughout. 180 Days (Required) Board Certification (BCPS, BCPPS, BCOP) Board Certification in Pediatric and/or Oncology Pharmacy Practice 1 Year (Required) And Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) 180 Days (Required) And Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) 180 Days (Required) Functional Account abilities Organizational Performance • Develops and maintains professional interdisciplinary relationships, with key stakholders within the Center of Cancers and Blood Disorders at Children's National Hospital • Assures compliance with the DC, Maryland and Virginia Boards of Pharmacy compounding regulations and requirements of other legal bodies and regulatory agencies • Implements new technologies and automation in the Oncology and Specialty Infusions Pharmacy space to support safe and effective patient care • Oversees pharmacy staff development, new employee orientation, and ongoing chemotherapy training of pharmacy staff • Performs personnel performance evaluation and implements performance improvement and corrective action plans when necessary • Facilitates and supports staff, resident and student training experiences and competency assessments • Develops and enforces policies and procedures and ensures they are updated, understood, and followed by staff in coordination with other members of he management, and billing integrity • Maintains an emphasis on ongoing quality, safety, and productivity initiatives • Actively manages human, capital, and operational resources to collaboratively support patient care services, medication safety systems, regulatory compliance initiatives, and quality assurance programs throughout the…
