Faith Presbyterian Church of the North Georgia Mountains 1349 Bluebird Rd. Mineral Bluff, GA 30559 Director of Music/Accompanist, Part-time FAITH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (USA)is seeking a part-time music position. This will be a wonderful opportunity for the right candidate. Nestled at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Faith is less than 2 hours from Atlanta, Chattanooga, TN, the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and Amicalola Falls (the head of the Appalachian Trail). Blue Ridge is a recreational area with lakes, rivers, hiking and biking paths as well as a downtown with excellent restaurants and shopping and even a train for visitors that chugs along the Toccoa River. From experience, we believe this position requires approximately 18-20 hours per week. Spiritual and Personal Qualifications: 1. Belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. 2. Music degree preferred. 3. Must play the piano confidently and professionally. 4. Is willing to play/direct music from a variety of genres. 5. Must be self-disciplined, self-motivated, hard-working, and practice at home or at church to be prepared for Thursday practice and Sunday service. Areas of Responsibility WORSHIP 1. Directed by the pastor and in communication with the Spiritual Development Planning Team (SDPT) Elders, plan and implement all music relating to worship services, including special services. 2. Communicate with the Pastor regarding special music, schedule, and any other music related matters for the weekly bulletins. MUSIC 1. Recruit, train and schedule all choir singers for worship services. Schedule musicians for all services. 2. Direct the adult choir: lead weekly rehearsals; select anthems and special music in consultation with the pastor; schedule and plan cantatas and other special musical presentations. 3. Prepare choir music each week and distribute music to musicians and singers in a timely manner for their preparation. 4. Communicate to the pastor hymns and songs that can be used in worship services that are appropriate to the focus and theme of the worship service. 5. Oversee the maintenance of the music library: purchase, file, catalogue and supervise the lending of all church music. 6. In cooperation with the pastor and SDPT, schedule and coordinate the ministry of music. Recommend the tuning, maintenance, replacement and or purchase of new musical instruments. 7. Maintain our subscriptions to all licensing entities authorizing us to legally use other published materials. 8. In cooperation with SDPT elders, prepare a music ministry budget each year for presentation to Session. Terms of Employment 1. The Director of Music shall work under the supervision of the Pastor. 2. The Director of Music shall meet regularly with the Pastor for planning and prayer. 3. The Director of Music is expected to be present Sunday mornings and at other special worship services during the year and attend bi-monthly Spiritual Development Planning Team meetings.
