Position Type : Athletics / Activities / Club / Activity Facilitator 1 / 30 / 2024 Location : Burlington Township High School (BTHS) Closing Date : 03 / 24 / 2024 Job TItle : Anticipated Opening : High School Marching Band Director Description : The director and assistant director will be responsible for designing, teaching and executing the show for the marching season. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of marching band instruction including drill writing, drill teaching, music arranging, marching instruction / techniques and percussion instruction. Attendance at all football games as scheduled by the Athletic Director is mandatory. Additional spring rehearsals may be necessary to prepare for community events including parades. The band will be expected to perform a field show at all home football games, pep rallies, community events and play-off games Other essential functions : • Designs, writes and arranges shows appropriate to the instrumentation. • Work with assistant directors, consultants and volunteers to ensure that students receive exemplary instruction • Meet and communicate with consultants and volunteers to ensure that all parties are prepared to meet the needs of students • Perform at all designated school and community events • Prepare and rehearses students to perform a field show, as well as parade marching and pep activities • Conduct ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in marching band activities, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed. • Obtain quotes for all materials and music that are required for student success. • Create and maintain a performance and rehearsal calendar. • Provide copies of the performance and rehearsal calendar to students, parents and administrators well in advance of the season. • Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the marching band field • Maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. • Select and requisition appropriate instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records in accordance with District Policies and Procedures.
